Butter cookies recipe

Its my fav recipe I'm sharing And please use butter not margarine to make these Here u go:

2 cups flour1tsp salt3/4tsp bicarbonate of soda250g butter1 cup sugar2/3 cup brown sugar2tsps vanilla essence2 large eggs2x 180g chocolate chopped or 2 cups chocolate chips1 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans

Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius. Line 2 baking sheets with greasproof paper. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla essence. Add eggs one at a time beating for 1 minute after adding each egg. Add the dry ingredients in 3 portions. Fold in the chocolate chip and nuts.

Spoon rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the baking sheets. Bake the cookies, one sheet at a time and rotating the sheet at the midway point for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they are brown at the edges and golden in the centre. They may still be a little soft in the middle and that's just fine. Remove sheet from oven and allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the sheet before moving cookies to racks to cool. Makes about 45 cookies, depending on size.
